  We are extremely proud of our competent, caring staff, which regularly includes a registered nurse, teachers, college students and mature high school students. Much of our staff has been with us for many years, having experienced Holiday Hill as campers before being selected as counselors. Most are graduates of our NEST Counselor Training Program. All go through intensive pre-camp orientation where they acquire and refine the skills necessary to work within Holiday Hill’s philosophy and program.

Counselors are supervised and evaluated continuously by the adult supervisors of their respective divisions, and the camp directors. Many staff members take additional training focused on how to teach a particular activity and/or to receive certification in their skills. Safety is a key element in every program.

Along with specific leadership skills, we feel strongly that it is a caring attitude that sets the tone and creates the environment for the personal development of each camper. Seeking and demanding good moral and ethical role modeling from our counselors is a top priority.

The building of self-esteem in children at Holiday Hill is based on the relationships that develop between counselor and camper. Our counselors are much more than activity supervisors. They listen, teach, coach and participate as well as lead.
